GCAAR REALTOR® Sonya Abney loads up several bags and boxes
of winter clothing to be delivered to the National Center for Children and Families.
As part of its 'Helping Hearts, Warm Hands' campaign, GCAAR Cares, the community service arm of the Greater Capital Area Association of REALTORS® (GCAAR), last week donated hundreds of new and slightly used hats, gloves, scarves, and other winter wear collected during the Valentine's season. The items were given to the Shepherd's Table shelter in Silver Spring, MD and the National Center for Children and Families in Northeast Washington, DC.
In addition to bringing items into GCAAR offices, REALTOR® member offices took part in collection themselves. Many member offices participated in the collection and distribution of the items, including: Cosmopolitan Properties, Gerlach Real Estate, Long & Foster's Potomac Office, and Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate offices in both Bethesda, MD and DC, among others.
This project was the latest for GCAAR Cares, the association's community service group dedicated to assisting and promoting housing-related charities in Montgomery County and Washington, DC. In the past year alone GCAAR Cares has worked with Rebuilding Together, Habitat for Humanity, and the Montgomery Housing Partnership, sponsored the Fannie Mae Help the Homeless Walkathon.
