The area's real estate industry honored some it of its most distinguished practitioners at the Greater Capital Area Association's Annual Awards Luncheon at the Hyatt Regency in Bethesda recently. 2008 GCAAR President Dennis Melby presented the 2007 GCAAR REALTOR® of the Year Award to Barbara Miles of Coldwell Banker Residential in Bethesda, who has spent countless hours volunteering for both GCAAR and the Maryland Association of REALTORS®. On the local level, she has participated in more than ten committees and task forces over the past decade, including serving on the GCAAR Board of Directors for the past six years.
The 2007 Washington DC Association's REALTOR® of the Year Award was given to Connie Maffin of Coldwell Banker Residential in DC, who currently serves as Chairperson of the Real Estate Board of the District of Columbia, is past President of WDCAR, and is a former board member of GCAAR.
The 2007 GCAAR Rookie of the Year, Annette Coram of Prudential Carruthers REALTORS® in DC, was also honored. Since 2007, Coram has served as Vice-Chair of Rainbows of Greater Washington, the world's largest charity dedicated to youth grief support.
Lastly, Chris Darby of Counselors Title in DC, was named the 2007 GCAAR Affiliate of the Year. Darby is an active member of the local real estate community with service to and membership in GCAAR, and specializes in residential and commercial real estate transactions and the resolution of contract issues.
Graduates of the 2007 Leadership Institute, 2007 NAR Emeritus Members, and all GCAAR member community service efforts throughout the year were also recognized.
GCAAR is the voice for REALTORS® in Washington, DC and Montgomery County, Maryland. Representing more than 11,000 real estate professionals in the greater capital area, GCAAR provides numerous services vital to its members' daily business needs and works with lawmakers to ensure public policy that encourages home ownership.
